Der automatische Test wird von smartmon ajtiviert und zwar durch die
Kommandozeilenoption

selftest -s (S/../.././02|L/../../6/03)

Jeden Tag short um 2.xx Uhr, einmal die Woche log 3.xx Uhr.

In der messages findest du z. B. folgende Zeile:

Self-Test. 

Manuell startet man einen Test mit

smartctl -l short <device>

bzw.

smartctl -l long <device>

smartctl -a <device> zeigt am Ende des Outputs die Liste der letzten
Selftests.

Der Zeitstempel kann hier von Power-On-Zeitattribut abweichen, da es auch um
Überlaufe handeln kann, von dann wieder bei Zeit 0 begonnen wird.

Nach einem Selftest muss aber die erste Zeile der Selftest-Liste einen
höheren Zeitstempel aufweisen.
